The Council of Finnish Academies represents the Finnish science academies in international science organizations and promotes the international visibility of Finnish science.
The Council
- appoints experts from Finland to the governing boards and working groups of international science organizations and supports the work of selected representatives
- promotes the human rights of the academics by appealing internationally for academics suffering from serious human rights abuses
- supports young researchers in their international activities
- allocates state subsidies to National Committees for their international cooperation
- communicates about international science organizations’ reports, statements and recommendations in Finland
