The Council of Finnish Academies is a cooperative body for the four science academies in Finland. The Council works to promote high-quality scientific research and the impact of research in society.
We connect Finnish and global science communities
We represent the Finnish science academies in international science organizations and promote the international visibility of Finnish science. Supporting young researchers in their international activities is one of our most important goals.
We promote the use of scientific knowledge in policymaking and governance
We communicate (in Finland) about international science organizations’ reports, statements and recommendations related to science advice and science policy. Our objective is to support the dialogue between researchers and policymakers in order to promote the use of scientific knowledge in policymaking.
We grant financial support for international science organization activities
The coordination and support for Finnish National Committees is a cornerstone of our activities. The Council allocates state subsidies from the Ministry of Education and Culture to National Committees.
